More SAD News on Obesity in Kids

The percentage of children with obesity has tripled since the 1970s.
Recently, the official BMI charts were revised because so many children have moved past obesity to become ‘severely obese’.
In January, the American Academy of Pediatrics changed their official guidelines –they now recommend weight loss drugs for kids as young as 12, and weight loss surgery for those 13 and older.
Last December, the FDA approved a new injectable drug treatment for obesity which can be given to kids age 12 and up.
