Ginseng Helps Create Energy at the Cellular Level
Researchers wanted to explore why red ginseng is effective in relieving fatigue.
They tested red ginseng in an animal model of chronic fatigue.
Results:
- Versus untreated, animals’ physical endurance improved 50% in the red ginseng group.
- Elevated lactic acid levels (a marker of muscle stress) returned to near normal levels.
- Cellular mitochondrial activity (the ‘engines’ of the cells) returned to near normal levels.
The researchers concluded that red ginseng helps the body build energy on the cellular level by reversing mitochondrial dysfunction (repairing broken cellular engines) thus decreasing inflammation at the cellular level.
Clinical research has found that 100-200 mg of hydroponic red ginseng boosts energy and relieves fatigue.
