There is a huge controversy regarding hemp and CBD. We can all relate to the fact that our body has a nervous system and a circulatory system, which has been known for hundreds of years. A few decades ago, scientists discovered we have an endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system maintains health and balance in every function of the body.
The food we eat, including spices and herbs, contains compounds called phytocannabinoids. Some of the foods that contain these phytocannabinoids are echinacea, lemon balm, clove, hops, and one of the main compounds is hemp oil. I lost count on the off-the-wall companies that are selling CBD. There are companies springing up out of basements and garages of America to sell CBD. CBD is still considered by the FDA as a drug and is not legal to sell in any state in America. A recent CBD drug was approved by the FDA for a specific kind of seizure. No one today knows whether or not CBD will be legally sold on the retail level. CBD is found in both marijuana and hemp oil. There is no difference between the CBD found in either.
Hemp is a phenomenal food and at one time grown throughout America. Hemp is useful in a variety of manufacturing functions. The fibers and stalks are used in hemp clothing, construction materials, paper, biofuel, plastic composites, and more. Hemp has been used for 8,000 years in these manufacturing capacities and is considered to be illegal to grow. I believe the confusion is that both hemp and marijuana, while different, still have the same botanical name.
They both come from cannabis sativa. While I believe CBD can have a huge health benefit, my question is, should you use CBD or hemp oil? It appears at this time that CBD is a drug and hemp oil is a food. Hemp oil contains a full spectrum of somewhere between 80 and 100 phytocannabinoids, which because of its full spectrum also contains CBD, but in its natural form and ratio.
My recommendation would be to choose hemp oil from the stalk, which contains the full spectrum of phytocannabinoids. I would not recommend hemp oil from the seed if you are looking for phytocannabinoids. Hemp oil seeds yield Omega 3, 6, and 9, which are all valuable, but void of CBD.
