I am offering my opinion, that maybe drugs are not the answer!
Here are examples of how vitamins reestablish health when they are available in the diet. Many of our so-called diseases today are only due to a lack of a nutrient, not a drug. Could it be possible that a weakened immune system fails to inhibit the Coronavirus?
I wonder what 1-2 minerals or nutrients are lacking in our diet that, if included, would prevent viral infection and URTI. We have millions of people in America who have underlying health issues and many are overweight or obese. We are a very sick country. It’s no wonder why we continue to get sicker.
I am offering my opinion, that maybe drugs are not the answer.
Scurvy, based on a deficiency of Vitamin C.
In advanced scurvy from a lack of vitamin C, another group of diseases include, ocular (eye) hemorrhages (bleeding), loss of secretion of salivary and lachrymal glands, swelling of the parotid and submaxillary glands, loss of hair, femoral neuropathy, edema of the lower extremities, psychological disturbances, impaired vascular activity, poor responses to stimuli that normally activate vasomotor adaptive mechanisms, and scorbutic arthritis, which is clinically similar to rheumatoid arthritis with pain, swelling, joint effusions, and limited motion. Scurvy has many different manifestations, most of them being inconstant: extraordinary exhaustion of the body, pains in joints and bones, swollen legs, rottenness of the gums with ulceration, swelling and proliferation of the periodontal mucosa, receding of gums, bad breath, bruising, diarrhea, fever, collapse, exhaustion, and finally, death.
All of the above would respond completely to vitamin C therapy with ascorbic acid given the added nutritional benefits.
Pellagra is a disease caused by low levels of niacin, also known as vitamin B-3. It’s marked by dementia, diarrhea, and dermatitis, also known as “the three Ds”. If left untreated, pellagra can be fatal, the fourth D, death!
Beriberi is a disease caused by a vitamin B-1 deficiency, also known as thiamine deficiency. There are two types of the disease: wet beriberi and dry beriberi. Wet beriberi affects the heart and circulatory system. In extreme cases, wet beriberi can cause heart failure. Dry beriberi damages the nerves and can lead to decreased muscle strength and eventually, muscle paralysis. Beriberi can be life-threatening if it isn’t treated.
COVID-19
The health of the body depends on essential vitamins and minerals to maintain health. That’s why they are classified as essential, as we can’t live a healthy life, disease free, without them. It is very possible we have a worldwide population of people who are very deficient in one or more essential vitamins or minerals due to malnutrition, obesity, an underlying health condition, and an ageing population with a weakened immune system.
I think it’s totally possible that most people suffer from a lack of a vitamin and/or minerals that are required to maintain a healthy immune system designed to fight infection.
Could this possibly affect COVID-19? One of the primary conditions of death due to Coronavirus is Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI). The weak or sick are the first to be diagnosed with the virus.
I am sure today that the drug companies would be scrambling to develop a drug to treat all these conditions that are due primarily to a vitamin deficiency.
