Fat and Cholesterol are Good For You.

This is the title of a book by the author, Uffe Ravnskov, MD, PhD, and I would like to refer to his book just to give you an idea how foolish our thinking is regarding diet and heart disease.  Saturated fats do not cause heart disease.  High cholesterol insures a longer, healthier life than individuals with low cholesterol.  Taking statin drugs does not prevent heart attacks, strokes or cardiovascular disease.  Once you’ve passed the age of 48, without having  a prior heart attack or documented cardiovascular disease, taking statin drugs, based on the assumption of preventing these conditions, will not add one day to your life.  In fact, low cholesterol will shorten your life and the life you live will be miserable with increased muscle pain, muscle wasting, arthritis, neuritis, neuropathy, loss of memory, loss of libido, depression, thoughts of suicide, and for women, an increased risk of breast cancer by 1500%.  The drug companies are the only ones who benefit from statin drugs.  Just two statin drugs have a combined total sale of 34 billion dollars annually.  Dr. Ravnskov asks these questions: Did you know? That cholesterol is not a deadly poison but a substance vital to the cells of all mammals; Did you know? That heart patients or those suffering from a heart attack have not eaten more saturated fat than other people, and in most cases, stroke patients have eaten less; Did you know? That people with low cholesterol become just as atherosclerotic as people with high;  Did you know? That high cholesterol is never a risk factor for women; Did you know?  That many of the cholesterol lowering drugs are dangerous to your health and may shorten your life; Did you know?  That the scientific baseless cholesterol campaign creates immense prosperity for researchers, doctors, medical journals, drug producers and the food industry.
